It is a nice place: clean, the staff are friendly, it is well maintained and developed, there is no cheap carnival look or feel to it.

It is divided into three sections:

  1. Disneyland – pretty much what you would expect, Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Disney themes and characters abound, a large Disney parade at 17:00. Needs a good long day to see and experience – probably longer in the Summer when queues for attractions are longer.
  2. Walt Disney Studios – the feeling and layout of a film lot, less focus on the magic of Disney and more on the magic of Hollywood and filmmaking (obviously heavily biased towards Disney). Can be seen in a day, though you might need longer in the Summer when queues are longer.
  3. Disney Village – some restaurants, a multiplex cinema and more stores. There was nothing to really see here.

IMG_1233_stitchWe bought a year’s membership. It was cheaper than buying a two day pass. The only caveat is that you can enter on the day you buy the membership, but not on the following two days (there are also some 60 blackout days or so). If you are in Paris for at least 4 days and plan to go at least twice to Disneyland, then it is worth it. We went on Tuesday and Friday.

The weather was fine on Tuesday – around freezing. It was nippier on Friday (-10C, 18F), some attractions were closed (well, the open air bus tour of Disney Studios was cancelled).

Since it was Winter, there were not many people, in general, we spent less than 10-15 minutes queuing up to access and attraction. Seeing how long the queues could be, it is not hard to imagine a several hour wait during peak season.

I was a little surprised to see Indiana Jones and Star Wars themed attractions, but I guess they have some cross licensing agreement.

Not sure what these paving stones are for, but as you enter Disneyland, the path is paved with them.

it's good to have a well-maintained and developed staff.
i've been to disneyland in anaheim, california. it's much older than the one in paris. and even in winter, the weather is much warmer.
i haven't gone in years. i should go again.
i wonder how much you have to pay for a paving stone? although, i'm not sure i'd want too many people walking on me.

It would be interesting to contrast the original and the franchise.

I've been to other amusement and theme parks (Canada's Wonderland near Toronto is probably the most comparable) and found Disneyland to be far classier - maybe it was the lack of huge crowds that made the difference.

The idea of DisneyLand in Paris is kind of weird! I think one of the reasons people go to DisneyLand in the US is to see some kind of functional, walkable main street-like village that for some reason we've relegated to the past in North America. Places like this feel good.

But, in Paris their real streets are like this! So, it's confusing that many people would want to go...

I tihnk it is much more about "touching" Disney than it is about walking in streets.

I am sure they are similar (after all, they are pushing DIsney), but I am also sure there are regional differences.

I never saw The Da Vinci Code movie, but I did read the book. As I suspected, there are no bars of soap in the bathrooms and from what I remember of the book, his descriptions of the Louvre are not quite accurate.

I went a couple of times to Disney world in Florida. Spent the day, very hot. I think Paris would have been nicer,. Great pictures!

When it was -10C (18F) it was quite nippy (especially with the wind), but when it was around freezing, it was quite pleasant.

One day, maybe we will go to the original and then I will be able to contrast the two.
