When I was younger, I used to look forward to watching Wayne and Shuster specials on Sunday nights (they weren't every Sunday night, just 3 or 4 times per year). I believe they used to play late (21:00 - 22:00) because I always remember begging my parents to let me stay up to watch it and having to promise to head straight to bed afterwards. Yeah, it is campy, and there is a lot of mugging, but, somehow, they always amused me (even if some of their material is dated). The Julius Caeser Caper - definitely one of my favourites (and theirs too, it seems, since the recycled many times over their career). The problem with youth today is they don't want to get into the family business. One way to entice them is by making the family business sexier through television. This might only be of interest to Canadians (or at least folks living in a Parliamentary democracy). It certainly couldn't be any worse of a travesty than our current Parliament. |
