Thanks to Ingrid, a web project called Thing-A-Day was brought to my attention. This is its third year. And it is too late to sign up this year.

The prmise is simple: each participant is supposed to make something each day and report on it. It is not supposed to be anything big or fancy - something in the range of 20 minutes to 1 hour to make or do.

So far, I have managed to fulfill my daily quota (woo-hoo!). Let's see if I can keep up the pace over the remaining 26 days.

As I look over the stuff that people make and do, I am filled with wonder and joy. Some things jump out and grab me right away, others are more subtle and others, still, do not move me. Yet ... each of these things is the personal expression of some participant and there is a wonderfulness in their just doing it. I find it humbling and enriching at the same time. There are so many great ideas and diversity of experiences to savour.

My page of stuff is here (or you can have a peek at some photos below):

It looks like fun! My favourite was the spider. I'd do it too, the thing a day thing, but I am too lazy!

Well, it is too late. Sign up closed on Feb 1st. You will have to wait until next year.

The shadow was exactly what I was shooting for. Thanks!

Yes, there is advertising. The web hosting costs $5.95 per month and the domain name $10.45 per year (plus applicable taxes). Hopefully, the ads will, over the course of a year, pay for the cost of the website.
