French Toast is great, but did you know that you can take it to the next step in decadence?
This is the Christmas Season (ok, slightly post-Christmas season) and Panettone is quite common. Panettone is an Italian leavened sweet bread.
You will need
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 slices of Panettone
- Some butter for frying
Break the eggs into a bowl add the milk and vanilla and whisk.
Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Dip the Panetonne slices in the egg, coating evenly. There is no need to soak it as much as with French Toast (since the Panetonne shouldn't be all dried out).
Fry for 2 or 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
This is very rich so people will typically eat fewer pieces than they would if it were just ordinary French Toast.
(If you don't want something quite so rich, you can substitute raisin bread.)
